I’m not going to lie, working on weekly make up posts over the last month has made me sick of my own face, so this week I’m using somebody else’s! Meet my big sister, Vanita, who was kind enough to let me practice on her the other day.
Vanita’s used to having a completely matte base – it’s what she’s always done, so she’s at her most comfortable this way, and it gives her the most confidence out of any other finish she’s tried. In these first few photos, you’ll see that I gave Vanita a dewy finish to her foundation; I knew it would look amazing, and wanted to give her another option to how she wears her make up – however, I could see she wasn’t 100% convinced. I wanted my sister to love her make up, so I popped on some Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional: Agent Zero Shine to mattify her base, and we took a few more photos…
…It worked. Just the simple act of giving Vanita what she wanted, instead of what I wanted, changed her whole demeanour, and she ended up wearing this make up for the rest of the day. This reminded me of how important it is that, when working on a client, it’s not about your vision, its about theirs – keeping this in mind will determine whether you get a second booking or not.
See you soon,
KMK
